A Summer Carnival Dog Show, vintage tombola and Christmas festival are just three of the many events that Hope, Damian and Jacob have been involved in with the Tring Youth Council. They have all been members of the council for over a year, and are currently working on the idea of a café offering simple, affordable refreshments, and a place to meet up after school & in the evenings.
The three students were invited to sign the Head’s Book of Commendation in recognition of their hard work and involvement in the community. The council meet once a month in the Council Chamber and are always happy to welcome new members.

At Tring School we want to promote equity, equality, diversity and inclusion, and this week each of the House assemblies have been around this theme. Mrs Rolfe discussed the need to recognise and respect people’s differences by making sure all individuals are treated equally and fairly. Following on were 3 members of the Tring School Equality, Diversity and Inclusion group who meet weekly and work on projects throughout the school to raise awareness of EDI issues. Ruby, Lilly and Charlotte have been working on their display asking fellow students to “Celebrate the power of loving who you are”. Using the small red notes, students have been encouraged to write down what they love about themselves and then they have been added to this wonderful display. As you can see the students have really embraced this idea and written some lovely things about themselves.

For World Poetry Day in March, the House Office set a competition to write a poem inspired by “The power of small changes”. The students could enter on their own or with a group, but had to explore how making small changes can have a big impact on how they feel.
The Key stage 3 and Key stage 4/5 winners have been announced and we would like to share their winning poems.

Some of our year 13 A Level chemists have taken part in this year’s Royal Society of Chemistry Olympiad, an annual competition aimed at students in their last year of study before higher education. The competition is designed to challenge, so is not easy, but gives the students an opportunity to develop their thinking and problem-solving skills, and test their existing knowledge of chemistry in real-world situations. The 2-hour written test was sat in school just after the mock exams, which their teacher Mrs Tunstall oversaw then marked and submitted the scores. Hannah and Clover were with Mrs Ambrose this morning to sign the Heads Book of Commendation in recognition of this achievement, and receive their certificates. Congratulations to them and all the other students who took part.

We have had some lovely events happening in school this week, and to give you a flavour here are some of the highlights. From the PE Department, we have seen the Year 7, 9 & 10 girls netball teams all winning silverware. The school Dance Team competed for the second time this season and were placed in the top three! Congratulations to them all. Our Year 11 Duke of Edinburgh students all successfully completed their training Expedition, whilst in school the Year 7 & 8 students were treated to a talk from visiting author Ellie McNicoll. Yesterday we saw the hard work of some students who were running stalls at the Easter Enterprise Market, and the Year 7 & 8 students visited Tring Parish Church to learn about the traditions of the festival of Easter.
We wish everyone a very happy and restfully Easter break.
