Pupil Premium, Free School Meals & Services Children
The government allocates additional money to schools to support students from low-income families. The aim is to narrow the disadvantage gap by addressing inequalities, accelerate progress and raise the academic achievement of this cohort of students.
Pupil Premium (PP) Funding is allocated to:
- Students who are entitled to free school meals (FSM)
- Students who have received free school meals anytime since March 2018
- Looked after children (LAC)
- Previously looked after children (PLAC)
- Services children

Pupil Premium can fund one item of each of the following:
- Regular badge Blazer

Please do not order and pay through parent pay. It is just so you can see the sizes.
Please either email uniformshop@tring.school with your order, or print the form in the folder at the end of this page and hand into the school reception (copies of this form are available in reception).
An email will be sent when items are ready for collection.
Advocates
Each child eligible for Pupil Premium is allocated an advocate to encourage relationships and support their needs.
There are additional funds that can be used to support students to overcome barriers to their education and to support wider curricular opportunities. Please discuss this with your child’s Pupil Premium Advocate or email pp@tring.school.
Support for Service Children
Service children (those with a parent in the regular armed forces) receive support via the Service Pupil Premium (SPP). Schools use this funding for pastoral support, including emotional, social, and learning help to mitigate challenges like mobility, deployment, and separation.
Staff supporting Pupil Premium and Disadvantaged students are:

Pupil Premium Spending
Schools have autonomy to determine how best to use this funding. There is, however, an obligation for all schools to publish, annually, a report on how the PP funding has been spent or is planned to be spent and what has been the impact on PP students’ academic performance in previous years.
When judging how successful the school has been in closing this gap, the results of our PP students are compared to the national average of non-PP students, particularly when reviewing the cohort’s performance in Maths and English GCSE, and the progress that they have made from Key Stage 2.
Support for Pupil Premium Students
At Tring School we follow The EEF Guide to the Pupil Premium. This is a practical guide to support schools to develop their pupil premium strategy based on the best evidence, and to meet updated DfE requirements. PP funding is used to raise the attainment of students identified as PP.
- High Quality First Teaching (HQFT) - training and CPD for teachers
- Targeted academic support - eg additional literacy & numeracy support, tutoring
- Wider strategies - eg pastoral support, breakfast club, wider curriculum
