Img 1254We pride ourselves on offering a wide curriculum allowing our students a breadth of opportunity to study theImg 1255 subjects of their choice. 

Students are able to choose a curriculum pathway to suit their personal needs, and we encourage students to make these choices in close conjunction with experienced members of staff and alongside their parents/carers. We offer a range of courses to suit a variety of abilities and GCSE's as well as BTECs, all of which have a track record of excellent results.Img 1251

Decisions around options choices are important for students to move on to further education opportunities and we encourage students to challenge themselves and to consider subjects that offer them the  (English Baccalaureate) to help keep their options open for future courses & careers. 

Our experienced pastoral & academic excellence team will ensure students are guided on to appropriate courses. If students would like to have an appointment with a careers advisor to help with their decisions, they can pop into Student Services to arrange a time.

We offer all students a wide variety of courses, taught by committed teachers who will challenge and inspire our students to achieve the very best they are capable of.

  • Options information issued to parents/carers w/c 19 October 2026
  • Options Carousel Morning | 4 December 2026
  • Options Fair | 5 December 2026
  • Students enter option choices into Google form by 18 December 2026
  • Year 9 assessments w/c 8 February 2027
  • Confirmed option choices issued w/c 22 February 2027
  • GCSE courses begin 7 June 2027
  • Final opportunity to change an option in writing using Google Request form 25 June 2027

There is close co-operation between parents/carers, pupils, teachers and the Careers Service. Parents should try to make sure that their children can answer “yes” to the following questions when deciding on subjects.

  • Consulted family, teachers, Careers Service and any others who may be able to help?
  • Read the GCSE Options Booklet 2026-2027 (this will be available early November 2026 in the Document Folder at the end of this page).
  • Attended the Year 9 Options Evening held on 5 November 2026 (copy of presentation will be available after the event).
  • Understood what is involved in the study of the subjects in terms of the topics to be covered, amount of coursework to be completed, meeting deadlines etc?
  • Been interested and successful in these subjects lower down the school?  This, of course, is impossible to answer for totally new subjects.
  • A need to study this subject because it may be helpful in your future career?
  • Followed the rules concerning the choice of a balanced curriculum?
