Peer Mediators

• Council reps will meet with Key Stage Co-ordinators to discuss the possibility of this. If Key Stage co-ordinators agree then we need to do the following:

- Decide what type of disputes/conflict peer mediators could offer support with.

- Discuss and decide how peer mediators would be selected.

- Decide when, how and by whom peer mediators would be trained.

- Discuss and decide what other support peer mediators would need from staff.

Students as researchers

• The School Council will form a working party and they will work with Mr McEvoy to further Student Voice in terms of teaching and learning.

The process will include :

- Setting objectives – What is the purpose of the research?

- Creating a questionnaire and/or organising some qualitative research.

- Analysing the research, drawing conclusions and making recommendations.

- Identifying stakeholders and presenting the findings to those stakeholders.

- Evaluating the process.

- In the longer term there is the potential for lesson observations by students.

School Council meetings occur approximately once a month. There are 4 representatives from each year group made up of one from each House.

The Student Voice Notice Board

There are two boards that can be used. One is by Connexions and one is near the Food Technology rooms. We need to have a designated group who maintain these and ensure they are used effectively. There are two boards that can be used. One is by Connexions and one is near the Food Technology rooms. In 3 years time

We will have achieved :

• Effective Student Voice communications. All Tring School students and staff will know what Student Voice means, what the School Council are doing and how they are impacting on life at Tring School.

• All pupils will be informed of Student Voice initiatives and will have the opportunity to contribute their opinions via the School Council. All pupils will know how much progress has been made with these initiatives, how successful they have been and what impact they have had. Staff will also be kept informed via the bulletin/staff briefing and any other appropriate method.

• The Memorial Garden will be well established. Pupils value the memorial to lost friends and look after it accordingly.

• Student Voice will be well established and valued with regard to teaching and learning. All departments will have procedures and processes in place whereby students can express their opinions.

• The School Council will be regularly promoting the importance of recycling. Procedures and processes will have been created to further this aim.
