We are very proud to have the largest Sixth Form in Dacorum and in our recent Ofsted report the Sixth Form received the classification of ‘outstanding’; our aim is to uphold this status.
The ethos of the Sixth Form is one which places great emphasis on individual needs and pastoral care to ensure each student is successful. We have a comprehensive system of tracking student progress and invest quality time with intervention strategies. Ofsted state ‘Students’ progress is monitored effectively and they are well supported to ensure they meet challenging targets’
Outside of the classroom we also provide many opportunities for students to grow as individuals and learn lifelong lessons. Ofsted state ‘Their personal development is outstanding and a strength of the school…they develop confident articulate young adults.’ All senior students contribute to the wider school, community, and in recognition they work towards Bronze, Silver and Gold Community Help certificates. We also have the opportunities of Head Girl and Head Boy along with many positions on the Sixth form committee and as House Captains; such posts offer the students roles of responsibility and leadership, essential for life after school.
Most of our students go on to Higher Education after Year 13. Our success rate at Advanced Level in recent years has meant that the majority are able to go to the university or college of their choice. Throughout this process we work closely with the students. Ofsted state ‘The care, guidance and support provided for the students is exceptional in the Sixth Form’
The school works in collaboratively with Ashlyns to enhance the opportunities available for students Post 16. The collaborative courses are available in block ‘B’ and block ‘D’ and include Diploma courses offered through the Dacorum Strategic Area Partnership.
