Humanities specialism – promoting Active Citizenship on a local, national and international scale.
We are proud to be a Humanities College. Our three lead subjects are History, Geography and English who take an active role in improving the quality of teaching and learning throughout the school as well as providing many opportunities to further enhance the students’ experience here at Tring.
Our primary aim as a Humanities College is to foster within our students a clear understanding of their role as active citizens. We begin by encouraging active student leadership within the vertical tutor system, together with participation in House and other Tring School events. We then encourage our students to reach out to the local community by actively contributing to local community events. We provide a wide range of evening courses and speakers to meet the needs and interests of our wider community. We work closely with our primary and secondary partners, as well as local organisations such as Tring Town Youth Council, Tring in Transition, Tring Together and Friends of Tring Church Heritage (FOTCH).
Finally we want to encourage our students to consider their role within the national and international context through charity fund raising, promotion of national events such as Fair Trade and Eco-Schools and through our International Schools programme.
Our Humanities College status has enabled Tring School to create a community which is vibrant and active and in which every individual recognises that they have an important role to play. |
