We aim to develop

Students’ awareness of diversity, whilst focusing on the processes of differentiation and stratification which are central to our understanding of the contemporary world.

Students should apply their knowledge and understanding of sociology to everyday life and acquire knowledge and a critical understanding of contemporary social processes and structures.

An appreciation of the significance of theoretical and conceptual issues in sociological debate is essential and students are actively encouraged to reflect on their own experiences of the social world in which they live.

Curriculum

Sociology at Tring School is a very popular A-Level subject and we currently run three AS and three A2 groups.

Students follow the AQA course and study the following modules:

AS

Families & Households
Education

Sociological Methods

A2

Mass Media

Crime & Deviance

Sociological Theory & Methods
