Curriculum: Leisure Studies

We aim to develop

The content has been designed to provide knowledge and understanding in the leisure industry whilst encouraging students to explore the breadth of this extremely varied and growing sector. The course is flexibly structured to give candidates plenty of choice to form qualifications that are individual to them. Visits to tourist organisations are organised to enhance understanding and aid completion of portfolios.

Curriculum

Key Stage 5

In year 12 students will study 3 units leading to a GCE AS level qualification.

In year 13 the student would then complete the A2 in a similar format. Grades are awarded from A-E.

How will I be assessed?

The AS is the first half of the course. It is a stepping-stone to the full A2 qualification. You can take the AS on its own, you can also decide at the end of the AS course to continue with the course and take the A2 units for the full A Level qualification. 66% of the final AS and A2 mark comes from coursework. The final 1/3 is one 2-hour exam sat at the end of the year.

“In 2011 67% of AS student grades were A-C, 100% were A-D”
“A2 Grades in 2011 - 77% A-C and 100% A-D”
